August 15, 2007 - Stone Hot Monday Its been miserable outside recently, over 100 every day. However, the VP at the company surprised me a couple weeks ago. He asked if I was willing to switch and work every Saturday (9-2) instead of every other. In exchange, they would give me every Monday off. So I now have a 4 day week as a road-tech and every Saturday I run the shop. I don't know how long it will last, but it's a very nice schedule for now. The interview for the member spotlight was published in the July/August issue of ALOA's Keynotes magazine, to coincide with the ALOA convention here in Charlotte. It's a nice two page full color glossy and includes a picture I took of the company. It has about 20 questions that they asked. I did take the PRP test at the convention but I won't know the results until October. Luz went also, and she was amazed and concerned about how easy some of the locks and doors were opened with some of the tools I bought. We also won a $50 Exxon card at the convention for speed programming an E-Plex electronic lock which was neat. Luz was given 3 or 4 shirts and we got some caps and some other things. The outside of our condo looks different now. The stonework project for the association is wrapping up and ours is finished. Instead of a brick and wood exterior, it's now brick and stone. Looks beautiful and fits in the neighborhood better. Other than the cruise going out again, the car is running great. Strut bar is installed. I bought a smaller supercharger pulley I will install soon with colder plugs for better ignition. It should give me another 10-20 hp. Great quote I just saw: People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs. July 1, 2007 - Follow, follow, follow The District Convention was one of the best I've ever been to. I was curious how they were going to do the symposiums since usually they were only divided into 3 or 4 parts, but now they split them into six parts. This meant ten minutes for each talk. It went like this, the speaker covered the theme scripture and its meaning and then specific application for today. Lots of counsel on specific points from specific scriptures, but very kind and excellently put together. The swap on Sunday with the morning Public Address and the afternoon Drama was nice, so was the sound drama on Friday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Got some interesting news also this week. I was contacted by ALOA regarding a member spotlight in their magazine. I'll see how that pans out, but it would be exciting. Looking forward to the ALOA convention here and testing for the PRP. I need to study more for it though. Sarris and Oolong are basically in a Mexican standoff (how appropriate here). Oolong holds her ground and Sarris antagonizes as much as Oolong will tolerate. Sarris is getting comfortable finally. Interesting Convention quote - "Don't be a spectator at Satan's table."
